EMPLOYEE PROTECTION

Protection gives rights to guarantee and redundancy payments, minimum periods of notice, compensation for unfair dismissal and other rights listed below. Once agreed, all employees (including part-timers) are entitled to the same sick leave, pensions, holidays, staff discount and share option benefits, including regular part-timers and casual part-time employees working on a day-to-day basis for over three months.

Within two months of starting work, employees must have a written statement giving details of employer and employee, job description, the place of work, the date of starting work and what other work, if any, form part of the continuous period of employment. Working hours must be set out, the amount and time of payment, disciplinary procedures (if less than 20 employees grievance procedures not necessary), details of the relevant collective of payment, holiday and sick pay, pension rights, length of notice, length of employment of temporary employees.
